Paul (my tutor) said something about Laurie Anderson in response to my use of sound/video and I guess there is a fairly connection. My absolute home in music is in this kind of spooky synth world just a quick planet away from pop. In my video below, "I Am Lost" the sound is the focus. The video barely moves at all (which is reminiscent, in some ways, of Pipilotti Rist's projection work, itself often florally focused). My previous videos have drawn on more visual movement, but the lazy drawl of fluttering, almost-still video in this film gives focus to the sound, which may offer a greater clarity of emotional response, possibly inspiring soft and careful procession of the viewer's mind, undistracted by shifting image.
